About the Project:
I was selected by Captain John Palliser School to design and paint their mural boards, which are located on the wall outside the school building. As part of the project, I will also organize an engagement event for students, share my design concepts with them, and host a workshop to inspire their creativity and gather their ideas.
The nest symbolizes the school as a place of warmth and security for children, while the vibrant, outstretching tree represents growth and limitless potential. The background features Nose Hill, a familiar landmark situated just behind CJP, grounding the design in the local landscape. I’ve also incorporated native Calgary flowers to emphasize the school’s connection to its natural surroundings, creating a sense of harmony and offering children a peaceful, nurturing environment to explore and thrive.

Community Engagement
This project included community engagement sessions where I shared my artistic practice with 200 students at CJP. I gave them an art lesson, teaching them how to draw native plants and animals in my visual language.

I prepared a detailed presentation for the lesson and demonstrated the drawing process on a whiteboard. Here are some example slides from my presentation:

I was so surprised to learn that a class of students visited my previous public art project, the Utility Box, and sketched the birds in their sketchbooks. The project was designed to educate people about local species, and I’m happy to see that it’s fulfilling its purpose!
